Engraved Metal Plaques

Engraved Metal plaques, available in either Bronze or Aluminum, feature raised or recessed lettering, satin-finished top surfaces, and are suitable for both interior and exterior use.

They offer the truly captivating option of incorporating contoured 3-D Photo Relief™ images into your design, portraying complete scenes and telling your story in much greater detail than a text-only inscription could possibly convey.

Finishes are available as oxidized bronze or full-color painted, and several examples are illustrated below. The vivid details each one depicts was possible by providing very high quality photographs to the industrial CNC engraving equipment (ie: large, high-resolution, crisply focused images).

Imagine what it must have been like to sit down and have a converstation with the legendary Percy Heath. It would have been fascinating, to say the least. Just one look at this plaque tells us he was the type of person who was brimming with great stories and tales of adventure. It speaks volumes about his life.

Machined from a 33" x 18" solid sheet of bronze, this Engraved plaque was then oxidized and hand-rubbed to bring out the full beauty of each element.

This is the motto of the United States Marshals Service, an agency that has been serving our country for over 220 years and has put away more fugitives, more criminals, than all other federal law enforcement agencies - combined. To put it mildly, they have a commanding presence.

When the agency needed a look that boldly communicated this presence, their product of choice was Engraved aluminum plaques.

Each badge and seal is crafted from solid aluminum at a 20" diameter using agency graphics. The finishes are either hand-rubbed oxide or full-color painted.

And as stunning as they appear here, you should see them in person - as a visitor, of course, to one of their many regional offices. They look even better than these photos convey.

As is the case with all images on our web site, these are actual photographs of real plaques. They are not simulated or artificially rendered in any way. The graphics displayed on each of these plaques are the property of the US Marshals Service. Each photographic image is the copyrighted property of Innovative Signs, Inc.

Solid bronze was machined into a custom-shaped 20" tall shield for the SOIB branch of the US Marshals Service. The finish on all raised surfaces is brushed satin. All recessed areas are full-color painted.

At a size of 30"x18", this Engraved aluminum plaque not only recognizes the founders of a ministry, but it features them prominently in a full color Photo Relief™ image. There was a considerable weight savings by using aluminum. Watch the video for details.

Rather than use the original background area in Eric's photograph, our customer requested an American flag backdrop in its place.

The Photo Relief™ portion of this
20" x 26" Engraved bronze memorial plaque was also "framed" within a double-line border, leaving the remaining background area smooth.

Using extremely crisp, high-resolution (large) images as our starting point made it possible to reproduce an unusually high level of detail in his hair, the stitching on each star, etc.

The Police Benevolent Association No. 38, in Woodbridge, New Jersey, said it best:

"Our Fellow Officers listed here are gone, but their deeds and dedication should never be forgotten.
They devoted their lives to the service of our community and formed the foundation
for us to build a stronger, safer place to live and raise our families."

Each Engraved bronze plaque is 22" x 12" and features two Photo Relief™ images;
one of the Patrolman, and one of the American flag.

Sometimes a photograph just demands color. No other medium will do it justice. This was the case with Pamela J. Smoak's beautiful portrait, which made for a spectacular Engraved bronze plaque.

A great photograph was only the beginning, however. The overall balance of this plaque, from typeface selections to size and placement of each component, hinged entirely on our designer bringing everything together.

There are many 3-dimensional surfaces on this 22" x 12" plaque. Lettering and borders are the most elevated, while photographic images are contoured just enough to reveal the details. You can feel each individual pearl, and even the decorative stitching around the neckline of her dress.

This plaque forms an extremely vivid picture of Mark's life, and the impact he had on those who knew him - and that's the way it should be. The designer's responsibility is to make this happen without you even realizing it, without any design elements getting in the way. The plaque should visually tell the story you want it to tell, and appear as if all of the pieces were meant to be together.

"I can't tell you how impressed I am with your ability to portray Mark just as we knew him to be."

Mr. Grupe loved golf, so a golf course scene was the natural choice for this 22" x 12" Engraved Bronze memorial plaque. Both images utilize the Photo Relief™ engraving technique to permanently capture the scene in a most unique way.

With surprising realism, almost every single feature in the original photos has been replicated.

Notice the fine details in his shirt, the trees in the background, and the roofline of a house in the distance (above the letters "MEM..."). Even the embroidered lettering on his hat is almost readable.

Most important to our customer, though, was the accurate rendition of Mr. Grupe himself. No other technique, not even Bas Relief sculpting on Cast Metal plaques, can capture this level of accuracy.

This 28" x 16" Engraved Bronze plaque with Photo Relief™ graphics helps to preserve Pat Bennett's memory by combining his image with one of his favorite pastimes.

The Oxide finish was hand brushed and hand rubbed to reveal this scene with amazing clarity.

Not every plaque needs full color. In this case, however, our customer couldn't imagine the flags without it. At 14" x 14", this plaque memorializes Cody's life with a Photo Relief™ engraving of both him and the project dedicated in his memory.

When you have a great story, or purpose, behind your plaque, the story in your inscription will come out even stronger. Our goal is to help you convey your story in as much vivid detail as possible. This 30"x23" plaque is Engraved Bronze with a 3-D Photo Relief™ image. It has a hand-rubbed oxide finish.
